push email on an iPhone - come on gmail ;)

As per my previous post, my posts are out of whack as I am behind on them. To summarise one of them.. I got an iPhone and it is the best convergence device I have ever had. It really does replace my mp3 player,PDA and phone.

    Calendar sync on yahoo is coming... but you didn't hear that from me. Am sure it's coming from the others too.

    You would think so - one thing I am not expecting yet is something similar to Google Apps - allowing me to use my own domain name but using gmail as the interface. I think I would move back to Yahoo if that came out - Gmail is pretty stagnant right now and Yahoo's email platform looks the best featured. All that assumes the speed of the interface is quick though <grins>

    I use Google Apps with my own domain and pull my emails with the iphone. Also have my emails forwarded from Google to my account on me.com so I have them pushed. Yes it is like having 2 accounts on the iphone, where me.com notifies me instantly of an email coming in, and the I use Google to reply. Regarding contacts, I syn the contacts of my Iphone to me.com, and me.com syncs with 2 other computers: a Mac G5 at home and a Windows PC at work. Also the Win Pc syncs with Google Apps contacts. I found that the quickest way to add a contact and see them synched into all the machines is adding through the iphone or me.com (I tend to avoid using me.com to see or add contacts since there are many times I do not see all the info in my contacts, but I know it is there since it synched from A to C going through me.com) Calendar is the only one I have unresolved. Still need to sync it directly to my Mac at home to have the info. Tried synching G Cal to iCal to me.com, but only get my main calendar (at work we have a few shared cals and can not see those on my iphone). I am just hoping Google Apps will come up with a solution, probably as early as September where we should be seeing some functions running on the backgroung of th iphone (like Google Talk)....
